Description
Brandywine® Maple is an excellent medium-sized shade tree developed by the U.S. National Arboretum from a cross of ‘October Glory®’ and ‘Autumn Flame’. It is prized for its outstanding, long-lasting fall color and clean, low-maintenance nature. The tree produces only sterile flowers in spring, so it does not produce messy fruit or unwanted seedlings.
Medium green foliage provides attractive summer color before gradually changing from red to brilliant reddish-purple in fall. Its oval crown and strong leafhopper resistance make Brandywine® an excellent choice for lawns, streets, parks, and larger landscape plantings.
Brandywine® is adaptable to a wide range of conditions but performs best in slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soil and full sun.
