Native to Iowa where it found growing in lowland areas such as streams banks and river banks. Large, tall, fast growing shade tree. Eastern cottonwood tree seeds can be a nuisance. Eastern cottonwood although it prefers moist soils it’s adaptable to a wide range of soils due to it’s penetrating root system.
