Heritage River Birch

Heritage River Birch is a vigorous, adaptable shade tree prized for its beautiful exfoliating bark, fast growth, and excellent durability. Its bark peels away in layers of tan, creamy white, and parchment white, creating striking year-round interest. This improved selection is also resistant to bronze birch borer, making it a dependable choice for the landscape.

Heritage River Birch performs especially well in moist soils and can tolerate wet, poorly drained conditions, but unlike many birches, it also grows well in upland soils. Its single-stem form develops into an attractive oval canopy with glossy green foliage that turns golden yellow in fall.

Voted the 2002 Urban Tree of the Year by the Society of Municipal Arborists, Heritage River Birch is an excellent choice for lawns, streetscapes, parks, and larger landscapes.
