Description
Royal Raindrops® Crabapple is one of the most striking red-leafed crabapples, combining brilliant magenta-pink spring flowers with deep purple foliage for exceptional color throughout the growing season. Developed by J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co., this variety offers a beautiful upright, spreading form with strong branches that naturally develop a balanced canopy with minimal pruning.
In spring, the tree is covered in abundant magenta-pink blossoms that contrast beautifully with its reddish-purple, deeply cutleaf foliage. The attractive foliage holds its rich color throughout summer before changing to vibrant shades of bronze, orange, and mahogany in fall. Small, bright red ¼-inch fruit persists on the tree and provides an excellent food source for birds and other wildlife.
Royal Raindrops® also offers good resistance to fire blight, making it a dependable and low-maintenance ornamental tree.
